Village Enhancement Plans have been the subject of public information sessions in Nevertire and Collie this week. These plans, developed by Council as part of our Draft Budget for 2018/19 outline affordable improvements, which Council hopes will be endorsed by each community. As a consequence, a sense of ownership and therefore co-operation should see maximum benefit from the investment of public money.

Features of the plans include the general beautification and enhancement across the villages, the sealing of some streets to minimise dust issues, while also reducing Council’s ongoing maintenance costs. Beautification initiatives will be more successful if each community is prepared to help with maintenance and watering of trees etc.

It needs pointing out that such improvements have only been possible due to Council being able to establish a sound financial position over a number of years.

Anzac Day is fast approaching with the program in the same format as previous years. The Dawn Service will be held at the Cenotaph in Macquarie Park at 6.00 am. The Anzac March will commence at 10.50 am from in front of the Warren Services Club making its way to the Cenotaph for the 11.00 am Commemorative Service. A free sausage sizzle provided by the Warren Services Club will follow the 11.00 am service.
