Rainwater Tank Rebates
The NSW Government's $310 million Climate Change Fund has been established to help businesses, households and government save energy and water. This includes $100 million for residential rebates to help householders make their homes more water and energy efficient. As well as rebates for rainwater tanks, the program will also be providing rebates for insulation and energy efficient hot water systems. The purpose of the Rainwater Tank Rebate is to save drinking water by encouraging householders to install a tank to harvest water to flush toilets and wash clothes. The rebate is scaled so that the highest rebate is available for tanks which are connected to a toilet and washing machine. You can get a rebate of up to $1500 depending on: * the size of the tank * whether it will be connected to a toilet, and * whether it will be connected to a washing machine. If you install more than one tank, its the combined size that counts. The total rebate can be no more than the total cost of the tank and installation.
APPLYING FOR THE REBATE You apply for the rebate after the rainwater tank has been installed and any plumbing work is completed. You will need to: * agree to the terms and conditions of the rebate offer * complete and sign an application form, available for download from the website or by calling 1300 361 967 * ensure a licensed plumber undertakes connection work, if applicable, and signs the rebate form * attach your original receipt(s) for the tank and installation. The Rainwater Tank Rebate application brochure has full details about the iligibility criteria. For full details about the Rainwater Tank Rebate and an application form visit www.environment.nsw.gov.au/rebates or call the Environment Line on 1300 361 967.
