The Warren Historical and Family History Society Inc., which was established in 2005, is concerned with the local history of Warren and the surrounding towns of Collie and Nevertire.
The Society meets the first Monday of every month, except January or Public Holiday weekends, at our own building - the old Post Office and Postmasters Residence, known as the Endeavour Hall - in Dubbo Street, at 6pm. All interested people are invited to join us.
New members are always welcome at $20 per person or $30 for a couple.
2016 Office Bearers of the Warren Historical and Family History Society Inc. are as follows: Patricia Christoff - Chairperson, Frere Green - Treasurer and Lianne Clark - Secretary.
During 2016, Warren Historical & Family History Society members remain committed to the ANZAC Centenary project. During 2015, to commemorate the ANZAC Centenary, the Warren Historical and Family History Society Inc (WHFHS) commenced gathering information and researching the records of all service personnel born and enlisted in Warren, Collie and Nevertire. This information was used for an exhibition held at Endeavour Hall in 2015. Included in the exhibition was a selection of memorabilia and artefacts on loan from local community members.
Also during 2016, the second stage of the project is to continue to collate, edit and present the information from the exhibition into the form of a book in the interests of posterity, which is scheduled to be completed and ready for sale by November 2018.
This year the society is also working towards the erection of a Memorial Wall which will have the names of all the service personnel from all wars engraved on it.
The society endeavours to assist with family history inquiries for a small fee of $30. Please include as much information of the family member as practicable when applying for assistance.
