The Energy Corporation of NSW is hosting two online workshops to explain how the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone will operate and what this means for landholders and farmers in the Central-West Orana region. These workshops are scheduled to take place on 30 September 2021 (10am - 11:30am) and 1 October 2021 (10am - 11:30am).

The workshops will include presentations from regulators and subject matter experts on the following topics:

  • What is a Renewable Energy Zone and how does it influence land use planning in my area?
  • How are projects in a Renewable Energy Zone assessed under the NSW Planning System?
  • What steps do developers take when planning a large-scale renewable energy project?
  • What types of impacts do renewable energy projects have and how are these managed?
  • I am interested in hosting a project. How should I negotiate with developers?
  • Can hosting or being a neighbour to a renewable energy project affect my insurances, land rates or agricultural practices?
  • What are shared community benefits and how can I be involved?
  • Are there practical ways for energy generation and agriculture to coexist?
