There’s a real sense of things moving forward across Warren Shire at the moment — and it’s great to see.

Our road crews have been hard at it, with pavement works underway on Marthaguy Road (RR202) and Carinda Road (RR333), flood repairs progressing well, and plans in motion to realign the intersection of Marthaguy Road (RR202) and the Oxley Highway (SH11). We’ve kicked off the levee bank rehabilitation works, completed the female-friendly amenities at Victoria Park, installed three EV chargers at key locations around town and construction on the new dog pound facility is nearing the finish line.

I’m especially proud of our tri-council partnership with Bogan and Coonamble Shire Councils for the proposed Country Heartline (Country Charm, Country Calm) Project. Through strong collaboration and a shared vision, we’ve secured major funding from the NSW Government’s Regional Drought Resilience Planning Program – Implementation Phase to support this regional tourism initiative. This is a fantastic opportunity to help more folks discover what makes inland NSW so special. We’re turning the strengths of our communities, our landscapes and our resilience into a driver for local economic and social renewal. It’s a real win for our part of the world.

We’re also backing locals through career opportunities at home with support from the Fresh Start for Local Government Program. We’ve recently welcomed two new trainees to the team and we’re now recruiting for two more. If you know someone looking for a start or returning to work, send them our way.

A big congratulations to the Collie Branch of the Country Women’s Association on 100 years of service and spirit. What a legacy for a much-loved local organisation.

Thanks to everyone who came for a chat at the Warren Show or had your say in our recent public exhibitions. Your input helps us get it right. Right now, we’re calling for feedback on the draft Local Environmental Plan. This is an important document that guides how land is used and developed across the Shire, so if there’s something you’d like to see in our planning future, now’s the time to speak up. Submissions close 4pm Thursday 17th July 2025. Visit Council’s website to learn more and share your ideas.

And don’t forget — GROW Community Day is back Tuesday 15 July, 10am–2pm at Victoria Park. Drop by the Council stand, say g’day to our General Manager Gary Woodman and Warren Sporting and Cultural Centre Manager Wes Hamilton and enjoy a great day of community connection and wellbeing.
