MEET THE TEAM - Larry Wilson - Post Image

As Council's Waste Depot Operator, Larry Wilson spends his days keeping the Shire's waste disposal services running smoothly and making sure everything at the depot is in order.

Let’s learn a little more about Larry.

How long have you been with Warren Shire Council?

17 years.

You’re Council’s Waste Depot Operator. What’s led you to this role, and what’s your favourite part of the job?

I applied for the position and was successful. My favourite part of the job is working with the public.

What does a usual day look like in your role?

I open the gates and make sure everything is tidied up before the public arrive.

Imagine you’ve just met someone who is visiting Warren Shire for the first time. What are some of the ‘top spots’ you’d recommend they visit?

The Warren Museum and Art Gallery, Macquarie Marshes and Tiger Bay Wetlands.

What’s your idea of a perfect day?

Spending time with the family and taking my grandkids hunting and fishing.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given, either personally or professionally?

Never say you can't.

What is something people don't know about you?

I'm claustrophobic and afraid of heights.

What do you enjoy most about calling Warren Shire home?

There's always been plenty of work, the people in Warren are very friendly and there's always something to do.
