During the first Council Meeting since the Local Government Elections on 4 December 2021, Councillor Milton Quigley was re-elected unopposed as Mayor. Councillor Sarah Derrett was elected unopposed as Deputy Mayor.

This is Councillor Quigley’s second term as Mayor, having been initially elected to the position in September 2018.

Councillor Quigley is looking forward to continuing to work with the community to provide the strong and worthwhile infrastructure and services that are of benefit to residents.

“I am both pleased and humbled to be representing our community again as Mayor.

“Local roads will be one of the highest priorities for this Council, with a particular focus on those damaged by recent flooding, as well as completion of the many infrastructure projects that are already well underway throughout the Shire.

“This includes the new Sewerage Treatment Plant, as well as upgrades to the Showground/Racecourse Complex. Lobbying for improved health services, particularly in relation to the provision of GP services will also be a priority.

“As a new Council, we look forward to working together with the community, and I warmly welcome Councillor Derrett to the role of Deputy Mayor,” says Mayor Quigley

Councillor Derrett brings vast experience to the position. Since starting as a Councillor in 2016, she has been actively involved in several committees, including Economic Development and Promotions, Warren Town Improvement and Warren Interagency Support Group.

“I would like to thank the outgoing Council for the significant contribution they have made to Warren Shire over their elected term, including over $27 million in grant funding, upgrades to Warren Airport, improvements to our road network and much more.

“Each Councillor served with the community at top of mind, and they leave the Warren Shire Local Government Area in an extremely sound position with wonderful infrastructure in place, and an ability to continue to move ahead.

“My congratulations also go to the returning Councillors, and to those who have been newly elected. We have an exciting term in front of us, where we will continue to deliver infrastructure and services that positively benefit our Shire community,” added Mayor Quigley.
