Thank you to everyone you took park in Council's
2026 Recycling Services Survey.
We received 139 responses from across the Shire, giving us valuable insight into how you currently recycle, the challenges you face and the improvements you would like to see.
What we heard
The survey confirmed that recycling is important to our community.
Key findings included:
- More than 80% of respondents already recycle or try to recycle.
- Around 60% are currently travelling outside the Shire to access recycling facilities.
- Residents want recycling to be easier, more convenient and closer to home.
- More than 80% said they would be likely to use a kerbside recycling service
The survey also highlighted that recycling needs vary across the community, particularly between town and rural households, reinforcing the need for a flexible approach to improving access.
What Council is doing
Based on your feedback, Council is progressing work to improve recycling opportunities across Warren Shire.
We are planning for a fortnightly kerbside recycling service, while continuing to investigate other options to improve access for everyone in the community.
To make kerbside recycling happen, we are currently:
- Establishing collection service arrangements
- Planning for the supply and rollout of Council-owned 240L recycling bins
- Developing clear information and education resources to support you.
Subject to final planning and budget approval, the kerbside recycling service is scheduled to commence from 7 October 2026.
Looking ahead
As planning progresses, the focus will be on making recycling easier and more accessible across the Shire, and supporting residents through the transition as new services become available.
